Centre girls are second, boys third at league meet
Garrard, Hatfield, Klenda sisters take first place
The Dwight D. Eisenhower League track meet was held Friday at Bennington.
Centre teams represented their school well, with the girls taking second place and the boys third.
In girls' events, senior Laura Klenda placed first in shot put with a throw of 34 feet, one inch. She placed second in javelin at 116-7.
Sophomore Dani Hatfield won the 3200-meter run with a time of 13 minutes, 40.42 seconds. She finished second in the 1600m run with a time of 6:01.19.
Sophomore Jackie Klenda finished first in pole vault with a jump of eight feet.
Senior Raschelle Jirak placed second in discus with a throw of 99 feet, seven inches.
Junior Justin Garrard led the boys with two first place finishes. He won the 1600m run easily with a time of 4:48.54. He also won the 3200m run with a time of 10:21.09.
Senior Aaron Barney finished second in triple jump at 40-4 1/2 and in long jump at 18-11.
Freshman Seth Jirak took second place in shot put with a throw of 42-10.
