Centre girls finish second at CKTL

Josie Peterson and Carlye Simons led the Centre High School girls' track team to a second-place finish Tuesday at the Moundridge invitational.

Peterson's javelin throw of 90 feet, 11 inches and Simons' long jump of 14 feet, three inches topped the charts.

Burhoop placed second in long jump at 14-7.5 and high jump at 4-6.

Moundridge placed first, Goessel third, Herington fourth, and Marion fifth.

The boys' team scored two second-place finishes. Rustyn Kerbs placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 30.28 seconds. Trevor Troutt placed second in discus at 122-5.

The team finished in fifth place, after Goessel, Moundridge, Herington, and Marion.

Centre High School competed against at least 10 other schools Thursday at Council Grove.

The girls' team finished in seventh place, and the boys' team was 10th.

Kylie Burhoop was the only Cougar to finish near the top in any event. She took second place in long jump, covering a span of 14 feet, 7.5 inches.
