Centre girls have hard time at SE Saline

The Lady Cougars of Centre High School were no match Friday for 3A Southeast of Saline.

In a game played at Southeast, the girls had a difficult time scoring and preventing the other team from scoring. They were defeated, 75-34.

Southeast quickly pulled ahead in the first quarter, outscoring Centre 19-4. The Lady Cougars improved to nine points in the second quarter, but Southeast's 17 points resulted in a halftime score of 36-13.

The second half wasn't much better for Centre. Third quarter points were 11 by Centre, 23 by Southeast. A 16-10 point advantage in the fourth quarter gave Southeast a 41-point win.

No Centre player scored in double digits. Brittany Owens made seven points, followed by Selena Seifert and Alyssa Luna with six each.

The team is playing this week in the pre-season tournament at Herington. They played Herington Tuesday and are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Friday against Hope and 4 p.m. Saturday against Northern Heights.
