Centre girls lift to second-place finish
Centre High School students participated in an invitational power-lifting contest at Council Grove.
The girls' team placed second out of 22 participating schools. The boys placed eighth.
Megan Gutsch took first place in the 152-lb. class.
Katie Carlson placed first in power weight, setting meet records in all three divisions: squat 290, bench 185, and power cleans 180.
Selena Seifert placed fourth in the 132-lb. class, and Teaira Turner placed third in 123.
Thieen Antoszyk placed first in the 132-lb. class and Tad Remy was fifth in 181.
Bryant Gutsch placed third in the 152-lb. class and set a record in power clean of 270.
The teams will be competing at 9 a.m. Saturday in a power-lifting contest in the Herington Junior High School gymnasium.
