Centre girls suffer second loss to White City
After losing in double overtime to White City a week ago, the Lady Cougars played the Lady Huskies again Monday and were defeated 53-39.
Centre was 26 percent from the field compared to 35 by White City. Two three-pointers by Jackie Klenda and one by Raschelle Jirak made a total of 31 points from the field.
A disastrous third quarter spelled trouble for the Lady Cougars after being ahead, 26-24, at half-time. The only points scored by Centre were two on a field goal by Kathleen Meek. They were her only points of the game.
In addition to a 40-28 lead at the end of the third quarter, White City gained a distinct advantage at the free throw line, completing 19 of 30 attempts. Centre made eight of 18.
Sophomore Jackie Klenda outscored her sister, Laura, a senior, 12 points to nine. They were the leading Centre scorers. Laura had 15 rebounds. Ashlee Bowman provided four assists and was three of four from the free throw line before fouling out.
