Centre has three first place winners at Marion meet
Three members of the Centre High School track squad were first place winners Friday at the Marion Invitational track meet.
Showing a strong arm, Senior Laura Klenda flew the javelin for an impressive 106'5", 13 feet farther than her closest competitor, Savannah Killough of Marion.
Senior Kathleen Meek won the 300m hurdles with a time of 53.12 seconds.
Sophomore Justin Garrard took first place in the 3200m run. His time of 10:38.97 beat Zac Ewert's time of 11:04.67.
Boys
Todd Stahlecker placed third in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.87.
Garrard placed fourth in the 1600m run, with a time of 4:55.94.
Eric Peterson was fourth in the 300m hurdles at 45.01 seconds. Curtis Gutsch placed fifth in the javelin throw with 138'4", and Aaron Barney was sixth in triple jump with 38'10 1/2'.
Centre boys placed seventh over-all.
Girls
Krista Heiser placed third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 20.94 seconds.
Raschelle Jirak took second place in the shot put, with an impressive throw of 32'1". She placed fourth in the discus with 92'5".
Meek placed fourth in the 100m dash with a run of 13.66 seconds. She was followed by Jill Fenske, in fifth place, at 13.71.
Fenske also took third place in the long jump with a leap of 14'7". She placed fourth in the 200m dash at 29.38 seconds.
The girls 4x100m relay team of Jackie Klenda, Heiser, Fenske, and Meek placed third with a time of 55.51 seconds.
The girls placed 6th overall.
