It was a balmy, spring day as 24 seniors received diplomas during a 2 p.m. commencement service Sunday in the Centre High School gymnasium.
Capt. Chris Bina, a 1987 CHS alumnus, addressed the graduates. He is a pharmaceutical officer in the United States Public Health Service.
Bina said he had no well-defined plan when he graduated from high school and even if he had had one, his life would have turned out differently.
"It took a lot of luck," he said.
Bina encouraged the graduates to remember their roots, treat people with respect no matter who they are, keep a sense of humor in all situations, and remember to say thank you to people who help them along the way.
"This is not the end for you," he said. "It's not even the beginning, but maybe it's the end of the beginning."
The high school choir sang, "Remember Me," by Jerry Estes. The fanfare and recessional were played by the high school band.
After presentation of diplomas and awards, the class of '07 gave roses to their parents and presented a video of their school years and personal profiles.
Fifteen of the graduates plan to attend a four-year college or university, two a technical school, and four a school of cosmetology. One plans to pursue an Army career, and two will enter the work force.
