Centre High School to receive new roofing
At its Monday meeting, the board of education of Centre USD accepted a $211,200 bid from Horn Brothers Roof System, Olathe, to re-roof the entire original high school building, including the gymnasium.
Before action was taken, the board discussed doing the gymnasium project at a later time. However, because the bid came in lower than projected and because no major capital outlays are expected in the next year or two, the board decided to do the whole building now.
The roof material is stone-coated metal shake with a 40-year warranty.
Money will come from the capital outlay fund which, after purchase of a new bus, has an unencumbered balance of $398,000.
Bids were received from six companies. Roofworks of Herington bid $236,882, and Lane Dyck Construction, Tampa, bid $247,257. All other bids were higher.
