Centre students achieve standard of excellence
Results of the 2003 Kansas Assessments reveal that several students in Centre USD #397 have achieved the standard of excellence.
Fourth graders attained the standard of excellence in science and mathematics.
Elementary school principal Demitry Evancho reported that assessments also were given in reading and social science to fifth and sixth grade students. He said there was 100 percent participation in all four assessments and all students scored basic or better in mathematics, science, and reading.
"We feel the results are commendable and the effort demonstrated by the students and staff positively reflect a high quality of instruction and expectations," Evancho said.
According to Neal Weltha, 5-12 principal, CHS juniors attained the standard of excellence in reading.
