With a smaller number of students out for track, individual efforts will stand out more than team scores during the 2007 season.

Good individual effort led to five first-place finishes April 10 at the invitational track meet in Moundridge. Centre was competing against Moundridge, Marion, Herington, and Fairfield.

Girls' team - third place

Kylie Burhoop led Centre girls with a first-place finish of four feet, eight inches in high jump.

Second-place finishers included Burhoop in pole vault at 6-6, Carlye Simons in long jump with a leap of 14 feet, Josie Peterson in shot put with a throw of 27-4 1/2, and Brittany Owens in javelin with a throw of 90-5.

The 4x100 relay team of Samantha Seifert, Shelby Deines, Dallas Rosenow, and Simons also finished in second place with a time of 1:00.28.

Boys' team - fourth place

Seth Jirak took home two first-place finishes: a discuss throw of 135-10 and a shot put throw of 44-8.

Alfonse Klenda won the javelin event with a throw of 149-3.

Nick Cole won the long jump with a leap of 17-8 1/2.

Kevin Mueller placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.85 and second in the 1600-meter run at 5:19.35.
