Centre track team brings experience to field

At least 24 students are participating in the spring track program at Centre High School. Coach Bud Peterson is anticipating a successful season.

Evenly divided between boys and girls, the team has several returning members with good experience.

During the 2001 season, Terry Svitak participated in the state pole vault contest. Kyle Luna, junior, is back after participating as a freshman in the 800- meter long distance run at the state meet.

Junior Curtis Gutsch specializes in javelin. Todd Stahlecker has been active in long jump, triple jump, and 400- and 100-meter dashes.

Freshman Justin Garrard is expected to be a good distance runner.

Among the girls, Kathleen Meek participated in the 300-meter hurdles at the state meet. Jill Fenske, Andrea Stahlecker, Alisha Loveless, and Kathleen Meek reached the state contest in the 400-meter dash.

Raschelle Jirak placed fourth in shot put at a regional contest.

Laura Klenda, sophomore, is a good distance runner, having done well in 800- and 1600-meter dashes.
