Centre wins one at parents' night

Members of the Centre High School volleyball team and their parents were recognized Oct. 2 at the last regular-season meet at home.

The girls defeated Wakefield in three games, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-19. They lost to Hope in two games, 10-25 and 21-15.

In the match against Wakefield, Leann Pankratz and Carlye Simons served for nine points each. Kylie Burhoop led at the net, completing 25-of-30 spike attempts, including 14 kills.

Points were scarce against Hope. Amy Hajek served for six, and Pankratz and Samantha Alvarez served for four each. Pankratz led at the net with 14-of-19 spikes and four kills. Burhoop was 10-of-15 with seven kills. Hajek had a perfect 12-of-12 in setting.

The team ended the regular season with a record of 10-12.

The junior varsity defeated Wakefield in two games, 25-11 and 25-17. They also defeated Hope in two games, 25-22 and 20-16.
