Chamber announces holiday events
Marion Chamber of Commerce is planning special events during the holiday season.
At 5 p.m. Nov. 26, Santa Claus will arrive at his house between Suffield's and Duckwall's. He will be available to visit with children until 8 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., a lucky shopper will be eligible to win the first $100 prize from the Marion County Record's "Christmas in Marion" promotion. The winning ticket will be drawn from tickets collected Friday at participating businesses.
The drawing will be held at Santa's house.
Following the drawing, story time at Marion City Library will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Mrs. Claus and her elves will read stories and do activities with youngsters.
Businesses will be open until 8 p.m. Christmas caroling will be provided in the downtown district and local artists' works will be on display in participating businesses.
Santa again will arrive by fire truck at 2 p.m. Nov. 27 and Dec. 4 at The Daily Grind. He will visit with children until 4 p.m. both days.
Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker will offer photos taken with Santa.
Activities during Thanksgiving Day weekend will conclude with Christmas Home Tours from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 28. The tours are sponsored by Marion City Library and cost $5 each. Tickets are available at the library or homes the day of the tours.
At 6 p.m. the annual Christmas tree lighting by Central Home Care & Hospice will take place in Central Park.
Santa will continue his visits with children from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 11 and Dec. 18. He will arrive by fire truck at his house.
Gift wrapping will be offered at Suffield's during Santa's visits.
