Chizek great-grandson pictured in magazine
One wouldn't ordinarily spot Leland Chizek of Lincolnville looking at a crafting magazine.
But the 2004 issue of "Country Quilt Presents Country Afghans" isn't an ordinary magazine to the 77-year-old man. The associate editor, Jessica Frey Owens, is married to Chizek's grandson, Barry Owens.
A page in the magazine features "gifts for baby" using the couple's two-year-old son as a model. Two black-and-white photos show him with crocheted baby blankets.
Chizek said he has yet to see his great-grandchild in person.
The little boy's father is the son of Connie Brown of Wichita. She is Chizek's daughter. The toddler's great-grandmother is Emma Smith of Marion.
Jessica Frey Owens is employed by Harris Publications in New York City and co-edits several other magazines. She and her husband recently moved to a new house in Brooklyn. The toddler's bedroom is being decorated and will be featured in an upcoming magazine article. The curly-haired, dark-eyed model is sure to be an attraction.
