Christine Laue receives honor on metro-daily staff

Christine Laue has received the Mary McGrath Award for Special Contributions at Omaha, Neb.

She is an entertainment reporter for the Omaha World Herald and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sanders, Marion.

According to the judges, Laue's coverage of popular music and culture has energized the World Herald, "especially with young readers."

Judges noted that through her writing and resourceful use of the metro-newspaper's web site, "Laue connects with readers in a powerful way."

After graduating from Marion High School she graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas. During that time she was a journalism intern on the staff of the Marion County Record.

She was a reporter on the staff of the Caller-Times in Corpus Christi, Texas, prior to joining the World-Herald.

Laue spent more than two years covering suburbs and development at the Omaha newspaper. Since August 2000 she has been an entertainment reporter.

Her sister, Carol, lives at Argonia.
