CHS cross country team has rising stars

According to coach Laura Howard, at least two members of the cross country team at Centre High School hold great promise.

Sophomore Justin Garrard has medaled in every meet this year. He placed second in the Marion meet.

At the regional meet Oct. 26, he placed eighth, qualifying him to participate in state competition.

He was in the top 20 at the state meet Nov. 2, finishing 19th. This was his first trip to state.

Howard said freshman Dani Hatfield of Lost Springs also had a great season. She suffered an injury prior to regionals, which affected her performance there.

"She'll make it to state," Howard said. "She's a great runner, is dedicated, and enjoys it. She is also a great motivator."

A third person to letter this year is senior Kristin Mueller.
