CHS senior athletes honored
At least 150 people attended the athletic banquet Thursday at Centre High School.
Former CHS athlete David Rziha was guest speaker. He spoke about the importance of high school athletics. He noted that champions set goals and get started years before the actual event.
Senior Todd Stahlecker presented a video reflecting the theme of Rziha's speech.
Several athletic awards were presented.
Most valuable player awards were: football - Travis Burns, defense, Todd Stahlecker, offense; volleyball, Raschelle Jirak and Laura Klenda; girls' basketball, Laura Klenda; boys' basketball, Travis Burns, leading rebounder and assist leader, and Todd Stahlecker, steals.
Scholar athlete awards were presented to Todd Stahlecker and Raschelle Jirak.
Stahlecker and Jirak also received the Wendy's Heisman award. Stahlecker was a state finalist. They were named to the all-academic team in basketball by the KBCA.
