City approves circus on Eisenhower Drive

A circus may be coming to town.

Jami Williams, Marion Economic Development Director, reported Monday at Marion City Commission meeting, that the city had been contacted by American All-Star Circus.

The commission approved the event contingent on satisfactory background and reference checks.

The circus will be held at 6:30 and 8 p.m. April 10 in an open area on Eisenhower Drive, east of the cemetery and west of Warrior Stadium.

Williams said Marion Cemetery Board was contacted and agreed to the event. The city will be paid $200 and a percentage of the gate. Proceeds will be given to the cemetery board.

Free tickets will be available for those 14 years of age and younger. Marion Elementary School students will be invited to watch workers set up the tent and prepare for the shows. Exotic animals will be a part of the act, said Williams.
