Staff reporter

Marion residents again will be given a $10 credit for displaying outdoor holiday decorations.

Marion City Commission approved the incentive Monday for those residents who contact the city office and display lighted decorations. The credit will appear on the January bill for December charges.

In other business:

— The commission approved a resolution to allow John Stoltz, owner of the property at 501 N. Roosevelt, Marion, 120 days to demolish or remove the structures.

A previous hearing determined the structures were uninhabitable and unsafe.

The property must be cleared by Feb. 15, 2006.

— David Mayfield, city administrator, reported he will contact Kansas Department of Transportation regarding reimbursement to the city for repairs to South Third Street due to the reconstruction of U.S.-77.

— Harvey Sanders, city public utilities superintendent, reported repairs have been made to a township fire truck tanker.

— Commissioners were asked to observe a new light bulb installed at Fifth and Main streets.

The bulb is $3 more than conventional but lasts three years and provides a brighter light.

— The October billing was approved as presented.

— Mayfield reported he and Sanders will attend a meeting with Westar Energy at Topeka.

— Warrants for $92,506 and payroll for $24,449 were approved.

The commission will not meet Monday because two members are unable to attend. It will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the city building.
