City of Marion seeks bids on curb repair, replacement
Marion city administrator David Mayfield announced Monday the city is seeking bids on curb repair and/or replacement at several locations including South Third Street.
He said county commissioner Dan Holub told him the county plans to overlay South Third and Sunflower Road in the next year or so using funds provided by Kansas Department of Transportation.
Mayfield said delivery of the new firetruck has been rescheduled for March 9. The new Gator for the ball field has been delivered.
Commissioners were presented with a request to approve a conditional use permit issued by the planning commission for a Lenexa couple to establish Christian Adult Care Services in a home at 410 N. Lincoln. According to Fredrickson, the couple formerly lived in Marion and plans to move back.
After some discussion, commissioners delayed taking action, asking attorney Dan Baldwin to bring back a report on state requirements for establishing such a facility.
Fredrickson reported the street sweeper is being repaired and hopefully will be back in action soon.
Economic development director Jami Williams reported helping a local man complete paperwork for a micro-loan to start a new business.
Williams also reported contacting a company about the possibility of moving a warehouse to Marion.
The Bucks For Building program has been added to the city's website.
Commissioners voted to retain current rates for health insurance dependent co-pay. The city pays 50 percent of the premium for family health insurance plans. Currently, eight employees fall under that plan, including five with spouses, two with a child, and one family. The family health insurance premium has increased $793.20 for the year beginning March 1.
Warrants approved for payment totaled $23,912.13.
A 10 minute executive session re-opened with no action taken.
The next meeting is at 4 p.m. Monday.
