City orders demolition on structure
Marion City Commission took the final step Monday to demolish and remove a structure at 1018 Denver Street, Marion.
An ordinance was passed by the governing body authorizing the city to solicit bids or have city crews demolish the property.
The property, owned by Donald Marques, has been earmarked for improvements or removal for more than a year. The city provided numerous opportunities to Marques with time extensions to complete the necessary improvements to make the house inhabitable and comply with city building codes.
City ordinances do not allow dilapidated structures within the city limits.
The owner will be charged for demolition and removal.
