CJHS boys defeat Marquette
In a game played Thursday at Marquette, Centre Junior High football team defeated their opponent by a score of 30-6.
Thieen Antoszyk caught a pass from quarterback Seth Jirak in the second quarter and ran 28 yards to score the first touchdown. The extra-point attempt was unsuccessful.
As regulation play ran out at the end of the first half, Seth Jirak ran into the end zone for another six points. He added another two points with a sneak into the end zone, making the score 14-0.
Jirak scored another touchdown in the third quarter, and Dane Moore scored the extra points on a pass from Jirak.
The final touchdown came in the fourth quarter with a 20-yard run by Sean Leihy. Moore again added the extra points on a pass from Jirak.
Marquette managed to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter but failed the extra-point attempt.
Centre carried the ball 42 times for 220 yards. Individual carries were: Jirak 22/154. Leihy 12/57, Lance Diepenbrock 4/6, and Aaron Bowman 4/3.
Jirak passed the ball seven times for four completions, two interceptions, and 43 yards.
Receivers were Leihy 1/9, Antoszyk 2/23, and Kevin Mueller 1/1. Mueller and Moore each had one interception.
The team has a record of 2-1.
