After their 30-26 win over Flint Hills of Manhattan Thursday, the Centre Junior High boys' basketball team is 5-0 in league play. Their only loss was to 3A Marion in a non-league game.

Scoring was scarce in the first quarter. The first four points of the game were made in two field goals by Lance Diepenbrock. The quarter ended with Flint Hills up by two, 8-6.

Centre managed to forge ahead in the second quarter. They led at half-time, 16-12.

The junior Cougars maintained their lead in the third quarter, jumping ahead 24-17.

However, just when the boys thought they had the game in the bag, Flint Hills picked up their play. A three-pointer with just 26 seconds remaining brought them within four points. But that was as close as they got. Centre held on and won the game 30-26.

Seth Jirak and Alfonse Klenda scored 10 points each. Lance Diepenbrock scored four. Thieen Antoszyk, Kevin Mueller, and Sean Leihy contributed two points each.
