CJHS football team trounced by Hope
In a game played Thursday at home, Centre Junior High School football team was defeated by Hope, 42-0.
The Cougars had a difficult time on the ground and in the air, with 53 yards rushing and nine yards passing.
Hope rushed for 197 yards and passed for 155.
The game was scoreless until the second quarter, when Hope scored four touchdowns and four extra points to lead 28-0. They added a touchdown in the third and another in the fourth.
Tanner Brunner was Centre's leading rusher with 12 carries for 27 yards. He passed the ball twice for nine yards. Brian Burhoop was 4-6 in rushing, Casey Kristek 2-7, Rustyn Kerbs 3-8, and Cole Svoboda 2-5.
Trevor Troutt was leading receiver for six yards. Kerbs received for three.
Brunner was leading defender with six unassisted and 10 assisted. Other tackles, unassisted-assisted, were: A.J. Temel 3-7; Jacob Jennings 5-2; Troutt 1-4; Jared Diepenbrock 1-4; and Svoboda 1-3.
