CJHS girls defeat Flint Hills
In a home game Thursday, Centre Junior High Lady Cougars defeated Flint Hills of Manhattan, 41-34.
Centre jumped ahead to a first quarter lead of 10-5. Although they were outscored in the second quarter, they remained in the lead 16-12 at half-time.
Despite three three-point baskets by Flint Hills in the third quarter, Centre outscored them 13-11 to make the score 29-23.
Almost equal scoring in the fourth quarter resulted in a win for Centre by a final score of 41-34.
Selena Seifert led scoring with 15 points, including four field goals in the fourth quarter. Megan Gutsch contributed 10 points. Other scorers were Alisha Barney, eight, Brittany Owens, four, and Samantha Alvarez and Chelsey Tajchman, two each.
