CJHS girls fall to Prairie Heights
In a match played at home Thursday, the Centre Junior High volleyball team found itself up against a strong Prairie Heights team. Centre was defeated in two games with scores of 15-6 and 15-3.
In the first game, Megan Gutsch led scoring with three points, followed by Chelsey Tajchman, two, and Jessica Deines, one.
In game two, Megan Gutsch served for two points and Brittany Owens for one.
The team completed 18 of 24 serves.
Their record now stands at four losses, one win.
The B team fared better, defeating Prairie Heights in two games. Seven points came on the serving of Brandy Kaiser. Brittany Owens and Teaira Turner served for three each, and Samantha Alvarez served for two. Centre won 15-8.
In the 15-4 Centre win in game two, Turner served for five points, Alvarez and Savannah Forsberg served for three points each, and Brandy Kaiser and Roberta Brubaker served for two each.
A C team match also was played, Centre winning in two games by scores of 15-6 and 15-4.
Scorers in game one were Forsberg six, Gloria Belton and Kama Craft, three each, Kelsey Hatfield two, and Brooke Carlson one.
In the second game, Julie Rziha, Jo Terwilliger, and Nellie Hill each scored four points. Kristine Jirak scored two and Nikki Stenzel scored one.
