CJHS girls lose to Marquette

In a match Thursday at Marquette, the home team came across with wins in two straight games to spell defeat for the Centre Junior High School varsity volleyball team.

They were swamped 4-15 in the first game but gave Marquette a run for the money in the second game, losing 12-15.

In the first game, Alyssa Luna scored two points, followed by Alisha Barney and Brittany Owens with one each.

Megan Gutsch, Luna, and Kylie Burhoop each scored three points in the second game. Other scorers were Chelsey Tajchman, two, and Jessica Deines, one.

The B team won two out of three games, to win their match with Marquette.

The first game was neck and neck, with Centre winning by two points, 15-13. Kylie Burhoop led scoring with four points, followed by Roberta Brubaker and Teaira Turner, at three each. Brandy Kaiser and Savannah Forsberg scored two each and Amy Hajek scored one.

Marquette won the second game, 15-7. All of Centre's points came on serving by Kaiser.

Kaiser led the girls to a 15-11 win in the third game with 10 points. Forsberg and Brubaker scored two each and Gloria Belton added one.
