CJHS girls take third

After ending the regular season in fourth place, Centre Junior High girls' basketball team went on to place third in the league tournament held at St. Xavier, Junction City.

After defeating Flint Hills of Manhattan in the first round, they were defeated by Luckey of Manhattan in the second round and had to face Wakefield Feb. 6 in the consolation game.

The low-scoring game saw Centre up by one at half-time, 11-10. They extended their lead to 17-13 by the end of the third quarter and won by a score of 24-21.

Jackie Klenda led in scoring with 11 points, followed by Jenna Beneke and Krista Heiser with 6 points each. Alyssa Luna added 1.

The girls ended the season with an over-all record of eight wins, six losses.
