Clayton Fetsch named hospital surgeon
Dr. Clayton D. Fetsch, general surgeon, will begin his practice Sept. 4, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
Fetsch will replace longtime surgeon Dr. Stephen D. Cranston who served at St. Luke Hospital for 23 years.
Jeremy Armstrong, chief executive officer of the hospital, said he has heard "great things" about Fetsch's abilities as a surgeon.
"He will be an excellent addition to the medical staff," Armstrong said.
Fetsch is board eligible as a surgeon with the American College of Surgeons. He is trained in general surgery with a special interest in laparoscopic procedures.
"We're looking forward to putting his skills to work," said Brenda Dawson, director of the hospital operating room.
Fetsch earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota. In June, he completed his surgical residence and internship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita. He will work with two existing surgeons, Dr. Erik Rieger and Dr. Tyler Hughes of Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
Fetsch and his wife, Olivia, moved to McPherson in July. Their son, Owen, was born in August.
