Cleo Osgood

Funeral services for Cleo Osgood, 90, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Marion Manor, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Florence United Methodist Church.

Born Sept. 18, 1916, at Greensburg, she was the daughter of Preston and Coy Hankins. At the early age of five months, her family moved to Wichita. She attended school in Wichita prior to the family moving to Florence in 1932 and graduated from Cedar Point High School in 1934.

On August 29, 1937, she was married to Jesse Osgood at the Florence Methodist Church. They raised four children — Yvonne, Ted, Janet and Thad.

She was involved in many capacities at the church. She served as church school secretary for over 25 years, church librarian for 25 years, MYF sponsor and chairman of different committees over the years.

The Osgood family lived on a farm east of Florence until 1980 when they moved into Florence. Her husband died in 1995 and for the past seven and one-half years she lived at Marion Manor.

She is survived by her two sons, Rev. Ted Osgood, Moorefield, W.Va., and Thad Osgood, Parsons; two daughters, Yvonne English, Flagstaff, Ariz., and Janet Bowers, Marion; a brother, Robert Hankins, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 Wednesday evening at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.

A memorial has been established with the Florence United Methodist Church.
