Centre High School girls' basketball coach Greg Wyatt is expecting some very athletic freshmen and sophomores to help the team this year. The Lady Cougars ended the season last year with a record of 6-15.

The roster includes 24 students.

"I am looking forward to this season and am excited about what could happen if everything fits into place with team chemistry," he said.

Three returning starters are senior Laura Klenda at forward position and senior Raschelle Jirak and junior Jill Fenske as guards.

Other letter winners are junior Brianne Stahlecker and sophomore Jackie Klenda. Both play the guard position.

Coach Wyatt is somewhat concerned about the team's over-all size.

"I wish we were a little taller but hopefully our quickness and aggressiveness will make up for lack of size," he said.

He is assisted by Phil Peterson.

The favorite league contender is White City. Bennington is characterized as "very athletic."

"This is my 21st year of coaching basketball and our objectives or goals have always been the same," Coach Wyatt said. "I expect us to give 100 percent every time we take the floor, respect everyone but fear no one, be positive, and good things will happen."
