Commission seeks representative for Mid CAP executive board
Representatives of Mid-Kansas Community Action Program, Inc. (Mid CAP) presented information Monday to Marion County Commission regarding services provided to Marion County residents by the agency.
Dale Towers, executive director, said the agency serves impoverished people to enable them to become self-sufficient.
The agency has provided services in the county for eight years and is located at 104 N. Fifth Street, Marion.
Some of the services provided by Mid CAP are income tax assistance, supplemental food program, emergency assistance to those in danger of losing utility services or being evicted, prescription assistance, personal hygiene products, and weatherization program.
An asset development program also is being implemented to assist low income individuals to make the best use of their money. A housing program is being planned in Burns and Florence.
A county resident is being sought to serve on the executive board. Previously Tim Sullivan had served followed by Delores Dalke, both of Hillsboro.
The board meets at 7 p.m. every fourth Tuesday at Augusta.
The commission said they would seek an individual interested in serving on the board.
For those interested in seeking assistance can contact Lynn Unruh at the Marion office on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
