Surplus commodities will be distributed at the Ramona Senior Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday.
I was so surprised when Junior Hanschu told me his sister, Velma Krause, 79, died Saturday evening in Emporia. Her funeral was Wednesday morning at Lincolnville. She leaves four sons Gary Krause of Council Grove, Dennis Krause of Lincolnville, Darrel Krause of Colorado, and Terry Krause of Emporia; and two brothers Junior Hanschu of Ramona and Harold Hanshu of Salina. Velma attended Sunnyside Grade School across the road from the home place of Alex and Susie Hanschu.
I attended Emma (Schubert) Danitschek's funeral Sept. 8 at Herington. She also was a student at Sunnyside Grade School.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik went to the home of Gary and Jo Ann Stuchlik Tuesday night to celebrate Jo Ann's birthday. Other guests were Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and sons.
Irma Reznicek said she talked to her brother-in-law John Waner at Marvin Lake, Texas, this morning and he said it was cold in Texas. This morning as I talked to my friends, they too said it was cold. It's quite a change from 100 degree temperatures. Some of the milo is shooting out suckers. We will need frost before it can be harvested.
Fred and Marguerite Utech and Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu were Sunday supper guests of Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge of Hillsboro.
Ramona and Don Beisel of Tampa visited Frances Stuchlik Saturday afternoon.
I attended Audrey Strome's memorial service Friday in Herington.
Bob and Irma Reznicek helped Hunter Makovec celebrate his birthday Sunday noon at the Herington park where they had a wiener roast. Other relatives and friends were guests.
Alex and Jean Stuchlik visited Frances Stuchlik Saturday night.
Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro and Barbie Katz of Lawrence visited Adele Katz and Selma Ingram on Friday. They attended Audrey Strome's memorial service in the afternoon.
Irma Reznicek attended memorial services for Lela Siebert on Monday at St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen.
I attended the Marion County Historical Society dinner meeting Tuesday morning at the Stone City Café in Marion. It was a planning meeting. We will have a program Nov. 11 and March 9, and our annual dinner and speaker on June 8.
Randy Stuchlik, Analisa, Jacob, and Julie of Abilene had dinner Sunday with Frances Stuchlik, then visited in the afternoon.
Bob and Betty Bevan, Joe and Connie Alvarez, Glenn Hietfield, Maggie Wirtz and daughter, Frank Wirtz and many other friends of John and Audrey Strome attended Audrey's memorial service Friday afternoon.
