Conyers family meets in Branson for reunion
The Conyers family met July 23-26 in Branson, Mo., for its sixth tri-annual reunion. Attending were 105 family members and guests.
This year's event commemorated the 100th wedding anniversary of James and Anna (Hayen) Conyers. They were married Feb. 10, 1904, at the home of Anna's parents, Henry and Henrietta Hayen, seven miles northeast of Marion.
The couple first lived in the Youngtown community. Their next home was at the Clara Duncan farm three miles south of Marion. As the family's numbers and needs increased, a new home and farm, were purchased in the Sunflower neighborhood, south of Marion. It became known as the "family farm."
Six other related families have lived there. Today, Jack and Joyce Richmond live there. He is a grandson.
James and Anna had 11 children. Eight were represented at the reunion.
A taco supper was served upon arrival July 23. Committee members were Evelyn Bredemeier, Mary Lou Koch, and Cindy Frisard. Awards were given.
Eighty-one family members attended the Branson Belle Showboat for dinner and a show July 24. Dorothy Conyers was called on stage during a ventriloquist act.
