Cope wins in landslide
Challenger Sarah Cope of Florence defeated incumbent Doug Sharp 695-99 Tuesday for the position at large on the USD 408 board of education.
Full results are listed on the tabulated chart at the right. Official results will be announced Friday when the county commission canvasses ballots.
In the Cottonwood Valley Drainage district election three members were elected: Don Burholder 109, John Hett 104, and Willard Hett 95.
In other postions around the county: Delores Dalke was re-elected mayor at Hillsboro and Leonard Coryea and Matthew Hiebert to the city council.
Nathen Bailey was elected mayor of Ramona with Judith Gratz, Lola Harold, Jeanette Weber, and Pat Wick to council.
Jim Clemmer was re-elected mayor of Tampa and members of the council selected were Paul Backhus, Wilbert Backhus, Reuben Kerbs, Tom Leihy, and Tim Svoboda.
Glennon Crowther was re-elected mayor at Durham with Ben Goertz, Verlin Sommerfeld, Gary Unruh, and Reinhold Winter on the council
Tom Grimwood was elected mayor of Burns with Mark Brunhoeber, Steve Cheuvront, Fritzie Hatfield, Cecilia Kennedy, and Mark Steward to the council.
At Goessel, Duane Duerksen, Racquel Thiesen, and James Wiens were named to the city council.
Diane Johnson was elected to the Lehigh City Council.
Ramona had the highest percentage of people voting. Turn out was good for a schoo/l/school board election. All votes were tabulated by 9 p.m. at the courthouse where a scant crowd gathered to view results.
