Cornbread asks for items to help troops
An idea was "hatched" on the Cornbread In The Morning program on KFDI-FM radio.
To honor the Sept. 11 victims, Cornbread is asking Kansans to send packages to those who are fighting the war against terrorism.
The package will include letters from school children, and a compact disc made by Cornbread to remind those in military service of home, and raise their spirits.
Items suggested include batteries, beef jerky, phone cards, wet wipes, stamps, chapstick, toothpaste, sunscreen, VHS movies, magazines, deodorant, ball pens, sunflower seeds, peanuts, cashews, books, sewing kits, black socks, powdered drinks, playing cards, and chewing gum.
The drop off point in Marion is Custom Threads, 331 E. Main. Call 620-382-2002 or 3319.
The program is being called "Kansas cares."
