CORRESPONDENTS: Sassy Senior Moments
By JANET BRYANT
Senior center reporter
We have a little game we play here called "Paper Plates." When there's a crowd of more than 50 coming in, some of the volunteers suggest using paper plates. they know my personal preference is not to do this. Albert Steele, the rascal, almost got me recently, claiming it was National Picnic Day and paper plates would be fun. I just about agreed until I realized National Picnic Day would not occur in February.
Jack and Irene Deason came in to eat for the first time. It was Irene's birthday, too, so we sang to her.
Harold Bowers celebrated his 95th birthday Feb. 22. He reminisced about the olden days. Shirley Bowers played a tape of Bennie Holtsclaw singing "Red Wing," one of Harold's favorites. She also played some other selections for him.
Sue Clough brought some of her art to display.
Dorothy Conyers celebrated her birthday with us on Feb. 25. Her actual birthday is Feb. 22.
We have a new shipment of greeting cards, including birthday, sympathy, and get well cards. We also have Easter napkins.
Virginia Downing shared a cake with us Feb. 26. Richard Kellison made a special announcement with a good medical report. We like those kinds of reports.
Residents of Hilltop Manor ate with us Feb. 27, winning the liveliest table award for that day.
Mary Ann and Ivanlee Timm provided candy for no reason at all.
The senior center will be open when school is out for spring break.
Come join us March 12 for lunch when Steve Smith will give the program.
