Members of Sunflower Senior citizens took a tour van to Mulvane Tuesday to visit their former member, Helen Costello. Helen's daughter, Patty Ingalls brought dinner to the apartment complex where Helen lives, and then Helen gave the group a tour of the facility. Those making the trip included Tom and Dee Duggan, Jim and Mary Clemmer, Margaret Jirak, Tillie Hein, Bonnie Crandall, Lorene Kleiber, Martha Melcher, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Jane Vajnar.

Tyler Heath was a Tuesday overnight guest of Phyllis and Rodney Mueller.

Jane Vajnar was an overnight guest of Bonnie Haslouer of Abilene Thursday and Sunday. Between those dates they flew to Cheyenne, Wyo., where Jane competed in the AARP Magazine national spelling bee. Although she did not exactly cover Kansas in a blaze of glory the two had a very enjoyable trip. On Monday they saw the exhibit of presidential treasures at the Eisenhower Museum and visited St. Andrew's Church.

Ryan Spohn and his friend Jamie of Manhattan, Steve Spohn and Sherri Kersh of Hope, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn enjoyed Father's Day dinner at the café and an afternoon of visiting at Gary and Carole's home.

Father's Day dinner guests of Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney of Pilsen and Reuben and Lucille Kerbs.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna, Madison Sly, and Lori Moldenhauer enjoyed a picnic and fishing at the Herington Lake Sunday. Nikki Stenzel stopped by briefly in the afternoon. Anna Mae served a Father's Day cake. Frank also got some cards with Father's Day greetings.

Phyllis and Rod Mueller were Father's Day guests of Jeff and Sherry Schimming Sunday for a barbecue dinner. Others present were Ronnie and Jody Heath, Danielle and Tyler, and Jim and Sandy Heath, all of Salina.

Tom and Dee Duggan met Deb Hall at a swim meet in Herington Saturday to watch Kaylee Hall compete. After the meet the Duggans and Kaylee visited Everett and Rhea Kolling, then met Tim Duggan at Lost Springs for dinner. Later, they attended an open house for Duane and Shirley Hamm's silver wedding anniversary and an outdoor movie.

Sunflower Senior Citizens met Tuesday for their monthly potluck, meeting, and program. Musical entertainment was presented by Esther Funk, Mary Funk, Richard Dirks, and DeLayne Herbel. Other guests were Eldon Funk, Kathy Dirks, Christine Herbel, Reuben and Lucille Kerbs, Lois Sklenar, Vernie Konecny, Linda Ihde, Edna Mueller, and Willis Herbel. Members present were Adeline Bernhardt, Jane Vajnar, Tom and Dee Duggan, Jim and Mary Clemmer, Leona Kleiber, Margaret Jirak, Magdalen Dvorak, Tillie Hein, and Martha Melcher.

Joe and Joyce Cox of Abilene, Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington, and Tom and Dee Duggan attended a play at the Great Plains Theater in Abilene Wednesday evening.

Leona Kleiber and Adeline Bernhardt attended the funeral for Beth Pagenkopf Monday.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki, and Lisa Hanschu, James and Anna enjoyed a picnic in the park Sunday at Abilene, then attended the Great Plains Theater's production of "Lucky Stiff." The occasion was a celebration of the Stikas' wedding anniversary.

Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, and Tillie Hein attended the visitation for Marguerite Utech Sunday evening.

Georgia Spohn visited Marguerite Goertz Sunday at Hillsboro.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan went to Council Grove Saturday for Kaylee's swim meet.

Weekend guests of Adeline Bernhardt were Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington. They came to help Adeline celebrate her birthday, which was Friday.

Ryan Spohn of Manhattan and Gary and Carole Spohn spent from Wednesday to Saturday in Elmore City, Okla., visiting Adam and Lauren Spohn. They got to watch both Adam and Lauren play ball and attended their vacation Bible school family night.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Lana's Let's Dance Recital 2008 Friday evening at the Hilltop Auditorium at Herington, where they met Deb Hall and Rhea Kolling. Kaylee Hall was one of the dance students performing.

Women helping Adeline Bernhardt celebrate her birthday Friday with dinner at the café included Leona Kleiber, Dee Duggan, Eleanor Herbel, Tillie Hein, Bonnie Crandall, Shirley Hamm, Beryl Steiner, and Lorene Kleiber. After dinner, birthday cake and ice cream were served at Adeline's home.

Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki attended the dance recital at Herington Thursday evening. Lisa Hanschu and Anna performed.

Georgia Spohn was an overnight guest of Steve Spohn and Sheri Kersh. All enjoyed dinner out in Woodbine.

Women of the St. John's and Trinity Lutheran churches attended a ladies' night out at the café June 4. Those present were Miriam Riddle, Leona Deines, Joy Sarapa, Gertrude Moennich, Lois Sklenar, Betty Mueller, Janet Bielefeld, Jennifer Jay, Edna Backhus, Kathy Davis, LaDonna Klein, Edna Mueller, Phyllis Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Alma Meyer, Joyce Medley, Lucille Kerbs, and Ashton Smith and Sydney.

Prairie Pals enjoyed an outing to Elm Springs and Sand Canyon June 4 with Laveta Meyer and Virginia Bentz as hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Meyer served as their guides. Others present were Lori Meyer and Maleah, Tyler Bentz, Jane Vajnar, Mary Clemmer, Iona Dietrich, and Melissa Stuchlik. Jane furnished the entertainment. Again!

Amanda Baxa graduated magna cum laude from Kansas State University May 17 with a bachelor of science degree. Commencement exercises were at Bramlage Coliseum. Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas were hosts for a dinner and reception in her honor at their Salina home. Relatives and friends attending included Bob and Phyl Kenney and Bill and Dane Wendling of Lincoln, Neb., Tim Baxa, Steven Stover, and Michelle Mazur of Manhattan, Raymond and Jane Baxa and Gino and Connie Brichalli and Wyatt of Cuba, Terry Klenda and Dale and Andrea Klenda and Elijah of Pilsen, Jon and Sarah Baxa and Benedict of Wichita, Becky Routh of Augusta, and Leona Kleiber. Jane Baxa made a decorated cake to serve at the reception.
