More and more combines are cutting wheat here. Some farmers began harvesting during the weekend, although some have not started yet. Tentative estimates are that it will be a good crop.
Hank and Janet Deines of Polack Pines, Calif., visited relatives here Monday and Tuesday. Georgia Spohn took them out for supper in Herington Monday evening. On Tuesday Georgia and the Deineses were joined by Gary and Carole Spohn for dinner at the café.
A baker's dozen of enthusiasts enjoyed games and snacks at the senior center Tuesday afternoon. Those participating were Tom and Dee Duggan, Walt and Iona Dietrich, Reign and Marlene Anduss, Jim Clemmer, Edna Mueller, Jane Vajnar, Margaret Jirak, Adeline Bernhardt, Vernie Konecny, and Magdalen Dvorak.
Terry and Debra Dody of Branson, Mo., visited Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant and Cole Tuesday en route home from Colorado.
Valerie Hampton was a Sunday visitor of her mother, Lois Sklenar.
A number of relatives and friends from this area attended the visitation Friday evening and funeral service Saturday morning for Jerry Vajnar in Newton. Vajnar was a longtime resident of the Tampa community. His many friends here grieve with his family.
Peggy Kleiber visited Leona Kleiber Friday evening en route home from a visit with Dale and Andrea Klenda and Elijah.
Dee Duggan and Leona Kleiber accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to Salina Saturday to attend the Red Hat Society's 10th anniversary. The event included a dinner, program, and prizes. Rose Mary Deines and Helen Sorenson of Herington also attended.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Friday and again Saturday. She, along with Connie Thompson, Allison and Taylor, held a garage sale.
Tom and Dee Duggan and Adeline Bernhardt attended the Marion County Senior Citizens Board meeting Friday in Burns.
Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt enjoyed lunch out in Salina June 18.
