Cougar JV football team ends eason with win

Centre Junior High School football team ended the season with a record of 5-1, to take second place in the league. In their final game Monday, they zapped White City, 56-0.
The Huskies weren't able to stop the Cougars' run, and Centre crossed the goal line again and again.
Team statistics say it all. Centre compiled 20 carries for 274 rushing yards, compared to 22 carries for -4 yards by White City. Centre gained 19 yards in the air, and White City had no receptions.
Rustyn Kerbs scored three touchdowns and two extra points. Cole Svoboda, Tanner Brunner, and Tyler Klenda each scored one touchdown.
A.J. Temel scored one touchdown and 10 extra points. Casey Kristek completed a two-point conversion.
Kerbs led rushing with five carries for 45 yards. Eleven other players also ran the ball, including Trevor Hageberg 1-25, Brunner 2-21, Temel and Klenda 1-15 each, Jesse Kopietz 1-1l, Mikael Antoszyk 2-11, Kordell Harding 3-10, Kristek and Svoboda 1-8 each, Brian Burhoop 1-5, and Benjamin Wirtz 1-0.
Brunner received a pass for 15 yards and Svoboda received a pass for four yards.
Jacob Jirak led the defense with five unassisted and two assisted tackles. Harding had three unassisted and two assisted tackles and one fumble recovery.
Other tackles (assisted-unassisted) were: Kerbs 0-2, Brunner 1-6 plus one fumble recovery, Klenda 1-1, Kristek 0-1, Ben Baker 0-1, Burhoop 0-1, Wirtz 2-0, Hageberg 0-1, Brandon Temel 1-0, Kopietz 2-2, and Michael Beeler 0-1.
