Country club hosts tournament
Old and new settlers alike converged on Marion Country Club Friday for the annual Old Settlers' Day golf tournament.
Eighty-eight golfers, divided into 22 teams, competed in the four-man best-ball format.
The tournament was a casual affair that emphasized fun and camaraderie, according to tournament co-chair Dave Crofoot.
"Anything over par didn't count," he laughed.
Teams teed off at noon following a luncheon. Upon completion of play, teams were divided into three flights according to their scores.
The team of Ty Waner, Jerold Waner, James Roudebush, and Rod Roudebush took top honors in the championship flight with a score of 60.
Kevin Burkholder, Dwayne Kahns, Jeff Kahns, and Trent Richmond recorded a 63 to finish atop the first flight.
Winner of the third flight with a score of 66 was the team of Joe Bowman, Gerald Shaft, Mike Dvorak and Doug Thompson.

The shot was witnessed by Tom Anderson, Pat Moore, and Jeff Richmond.
