County accepts bids for roof repair
Marion County commissioners, during their meeting Friday, accepted a bid from Flory Roofing & Construction, Newton, for roof repairs to the courthouse and the jail.
The bids were $1,100 for the courthouse and $745 for the jail. If it is found that more extensive repair in the jail area is needed, the $745 will be applied to that increased cost.
The courthouse bell tower is to be thoroughly inspected for problem areas, for leaks.
County Clerk Carol Maggard said there is a loss of shingles on the courthouse, and a water leak.
The roof was last repaired in 1996, and a very poor job was done, she said.
Commissioners approved pay of $10 per hour for Michael Fisher as part-time reservoir patrol officer.
Maggard told commissioners she has received certification from the county appraiser that all real estate, personal property, and oil and gas valuation has been transferred to her office. This constitutes complete appraisal rolls for Marion County.
Cardie Oil, Inc., Tampa, won the bid to supply a total of 8,000 gallons of fuel for the transport division of the road and bridge department.
This includes diesel and 3,000 gallons of unleaded gas, for a total of $8,626.20,
Co-op Grain, Hillsboro, won the bid to supply the road and bridge department's area fuel, a total of 6,550 gallons of diesel, for a total price of $5,678.88.
