County Lake: Folks are confused about the names

What a good fishing weekend this was! Gosh, I think everyone caught fish. Dale reported seeing channel cat caught by every camper and almost every fisherman he checked.
There were some keeper walleye, several wipers, saugeye, lots of perch and bluegill, drum, and a few nice crappie. So, grab your pole and come on out — the fishing is good. Pictures of some of this week's catches will be printed next week in the outdoors section of the Marion County Record.
We had a big reunion here this weekend, and they almost filled our campground. It was the descendants of the Reznicek and Pallas families, who immigrated from the Moravia Province of the Czech Republic to Nebraska in 1883 and 1889.
The reunion was hosted by descendants of the Thomas and Antonie (Pallas) Reznicek branch, who moved into Marion County in 1924.
There were 185 in attendance through the weekend. They used the hall Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday. They had a catered hog roast meal Saturday (they brought us some and was it good!) and Sunday was potluck.
Beside those coming from Kansas and Nebraska, 13 other states were represented.
What a grand time they had and the stories were abundant!
Also sharing the campground was the KYOTE camping group. There were about 10 in their group. I didn't get to talk to them much, but they come here every year and enjoy our lake.
The wildflowers still are in full bloom, as are the beautiful flower gardens around the lake. If you haven't been out to see them, do so now. Some of the houses around the lake have beautiful gardens and yards.
Have you noticed the wheat fields? They were so green and now are turning that beautiful golden color. Seeing them wave in the wind is awesome. I'm sure they will be cutting in a week or so, so watch out for the big trucks hauling the wheat to town. They can only go so fast when they are loaded.
Please remember, especially on weekends, to slow down around the beach and hall area, and through the campground. Little children are constantly running out between cars and riding their bikes around this area. It is posted, 10 mph, beginning at the beach through the campground to the dam, so please slow down. While looking out of the office window, I've seen several close calls and don't want to have to call an ambulance.
Did you see in Monday's Wichita paper where some of our Kansas tax money is going? (Commentary, "Want real reform?"). I'm usually not an outspoken person on political subjects, but this really made me mad. I agree with the man on the spending problem, not saying he has all the answers. You would think some of this could be put on hold until we have a balanced budget. There are times when I wish I could spent $800 more then my checkbook says, but not $800 million! and I sure don't want to pay it all in taxes.
This weekend is Father's Day. Don't forget to call or visit your father! Mine isn't here anymore to call and yours won't be here forever, so don't forget.
