County Lake: Illegal dumping
By TOOTSIE SNELLING

The trash man and Dale continue to find the trash hoppers being used by lake residents or other people dumping their trash.
Two hoppers were full this weekend. One had cedar boughs, limbs, clippings, and broken sheet rock.
The trash man won't take leaves or limbs that are put in the hoppers.
Please don't abuse our service. You can get your own trash service by calling the city of Florence, and it isn't that far into town to the tree dump and it doesn't cost that much for a dump.
The trash hoppers are for campers or picnic use only. If you see anyone dumping, please call or take down their tag number. We would like for this to stop.
Hey, I can go for the last few COOL days. I'm talking about last Friday and Saturday. What a pleasant change! I had campers in looking for sweat pants and jackets and buying firewood to keep warm. But, we all knew it wouldn't last long — this is July.
If only we had gotten some rain with it. Dale talked to his mother in Potwin and they received over two inches. Maybe next week.
Sorry I missed last week, but I was recuperating from the Fourth. We didn't have a full crowd, by any means, but it was a long week with people coming in Tuesday and Wednesday to get their spots, and more campers coming out for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
We had a big boating and jet ski day Saturday and Sunday and I couldn't wait for 9 p.m. Sunday so we could close up.
The Hayes family held a reunion over the Fourth. They used the north shelter house and the hall on the 4th and 5th.
The Helmers held their reunion in the lake hall also on the 4th. The Stockdales had a family reunion in the north end of the hall July 6 and Sandy Harris used the south half. Chat and Dine used the hall in the evening. I didn't get to talk to anyone about their program, but it looked like they had a big crowd.
The Tajchmans used one end July 7 and the Jewett-Christners used the other.
We had quite a scare on Saturday. Someone came in and asked for the hall key for the Winter reunion. I said I didn't have a Winter reunion down until Sunday and that both ends of the hall were taken. He went back to get someone in charge and they came over with their invitations to show me, but I said, the hall was rented by Shirley Groening and the Bowmans. They laughed and said Shirley was one of them. Boy did I feel better in a hurry. We keep a double set of calendars so we won't get mix ups, but sometimes it happens. This time it wasn't me.
The hall was used Sunday by the Winters and Rowlands.
Fishing has been fair to good. Lots of small channel are being taken. The bigger ones should be done spawning this week and should go on a feeding spree. Liver and dip bait continue to be the best bait.
Bass are biting best early morning and late evening when its cooler. Still taken are a few wipers, walleye, and saugeye. Drum and perch are biting well.
I attended the Krazy Kamp REC play Saturday evening in the city building. It was excellent! I haven't laughed so hard in a while. We have some talented kids around and hats off to the staff which donates their time and talent to make it happen. I went especially to see granddaughter, Tristen Snelling.
We need entries for the Sand Art Contest on Saturday. Come on, put a team together and lets have fun building something fun and funny out of sand. You can always cool off in the lake.
The trash bags are in, so for all of you that already came in for them, please come back again and pick them up. Thanks.
