Cross country runners to join football players at Shrine Bowl

Dave Mize, executive director of the Kansas Shrine Bowl, announced 60 high school cross country runners will participate at 7:30 a.m. July 26 in a 5K race before the scheduled Shrine Bowl football game.

The race already exists for anyone interested in running, but this year the 30 male and 30 female top runners will be added to the race.

Four teams, an East and a West for both boys and girls, will be timed and awarded separately after the race.

The Kansas Cross Country Track and Field Coaches Association Executive Board will select participants in April.
