A Cottonwood Valley League all-star team advanced to the state tournament Friday in Wellington.

Players from Marion, Hillsboro, and Cottonwood Falls make up the 10 and younger all-star team. They won the Cal Ripken district tournament Saturday in Hillsboro.

The team won its first game 12 to 10. Wil Case came in to pitch the bottom of the last inning with two runners on base and the tying run at the plate. He struck out the batter, preserving the victory.

In the second game, Brian Fruechting and Adam Maag combined to pitch the team to an 18 to 0 victory through four innings of play.

The fourth Marion player on the team, Isaac Hett, hit a triple in the second inning to score two runs.
