Darby and Kiley McCord

Kiley van der Weg and Darby McCord, both of Newton, were married June 8, 2002, at a 6:30 p.m. ceremony in a garden setting at Dyck Arboretum in Hesston.

The Rev. Wayne Handle of Oxford, uncle of the bride, officiated at the double ring service.

The bride is the daughter of Martin and Peggy (Clark) van der Weg of Newton and the granddaughter of Ivan and Marie Clark of Burns and Henry and Grace van der Weg of Newton. The groom is the son of James and Helen Rankin of Levelland, Texas, and Patrick McCord of Odessa, Texas.

The bride was attended by her cousin Melissa Green of Newton, as matron of honor. Sandy Prentiss of Kansas City was maid of honor and another cousin Jenny Stucky of Newton was bridesmaid.

The bride's brother Andrew van der Weg of Newton, served the groom as best man. Groomsman was Brian Thornton of Wichita.

Guests were seated by the bride's brother Ian van der Weg and her cousin Clint Green, both of Newton.

Karli McCord, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Ringbearer was Jordan McCord of Newton, son of the groom.

Shayla Clark of Burns, aunt of the bride, was in charge of the music.

Guest book attendant was Alica Heath of Council Grove, cousin of the bride. Nate Nelson of Cassoday and Bayleigh Clark of Burns, also cousins of the bride, were the gift attendants.

A reception and dance were held at VFW Post 971 in Newton. Hosts were the bride's aunt Jennifer Stucky, Robb and MaryBeth Titus, and Dan and Julie Bode of Newton.

The wedding cake was made and decorated by LaVonne Ammeter and Patti Gaines of Burns.

The bride is a graduate of Wichita State University with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She is employed at Appraisal Services of Kansas and is the dance team coach at Newton High School. The groom attended South Plains Community College. He is a power supply technician for Cox Communications in Hutchinson.The couple is making their home in Newton.
