Daredevil musician turns novelist

Steve Cash, who has played the harmonica for the Ozark Mountain Daredevils for nearly 32 years, is not "just a musician." He's also a novelist.
His novel, "The Maq," has been published in many other countries, but he still is trying to get it published in the U.S.A.
The book, published in Europe and elsewhere in January, is set in the St. Louis area in 1881. The Maq is an ancient, mythical race of people from the Pyrenees area who are "normal" until the age of 12, but never age after that.
Some live to be hundreds, even thousands of years old.
"It's an adventure novel," Cash said. It can be found online for purchase from amazon.co.uk.
The OM Daredevils are "scaling it down," Cash said Thursday. "We haven't been on the road full-time for three or four years." They don't tour much anymore, so those who want to hear them should be at their concert at 9 p.m. Saturday in Marion's Central Park.
"Supe (Supe du Jour, aka bass player Mike Granda) has been playing with other bands, and John (Dillon, rhythm guitarist/fiddler) has been doing some other things, too," said Cash.
