Dean Kelsey

H. Dean Kelsey, 65, died Nov. 19, 2002, at Goshen (Ind.) General Hospital after a battle with brain cancer.

Born July 10, 1937, in Marion, he was the son of Paul Edward and Ida Myrtle (Blankley) Kelsey.

He was a graduate of Marion High School, attended one year at Phillips University in Oklahoma, and three years at Emporia State University where he graduated with a degree in business education.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from 1961-1964.

He was employed for 21 years at Commodore Homes in Goshen, where he was the supervisor of shipping and receiving. He formerly worked at Liberty Homes in Yoder and Girdon Industries in Newton.

Kelsey enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, and loved animals. He also was an avid NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Kelsey, and a daughter, Keli Dawn Kelsey.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Devin and Jaime Kelsey of Salina; two daughters, Juli Wilson of Salina and Lori Nisbeth of Abilene; two sisters, JoAnne Pagenkopf of Boise, Idaho, and Lois Pracht of Pretty Prairie; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marion Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the church and with Goshen Cancer Center.
