Dick Hanschu
Lawrence Allen "Dick" Hanschu, 83, Tampa, died May 17, 2002, at St. Luke Hospital.
Born Nov. 18, 1918, at Ramona, he was the son of David and Carrie (Riffel) Hanschu Sr.
A retired farmer, he was a lifelong resident of the rural Tampa community. He married Eldena LaVerna Stenzel April 27, 1941. She died in 1985.
He played baseball as a young man at the professional level and it remained a life interest for him.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Reuben, David Jr., and Benny; and two grandsons, Barrett and Seth Hauser.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Bissel of Woodland Park, Colo.; a brother, Clinton Hanschu of Ramona; a sister, Kathryn Magathan of Herington; and one grandson, Jason Hanschu.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Marion Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established with the Marion baseball program.
